Matrix System Automotive Finishes, founded 30 years ago, was the first aftermarket automotive paint manufacturer to successfully formulate, manufacture, distribute, and bring to market a complete line of advanced technology paint and coating systems to professional refinishers nationwide. In 2006, Quest Specialty Chemicals (QSC), a leader in the specialty coatings industry, acquired and added Matrix System to its platform. QSC is organized into three principal divisions focusing on transportation, industrial, and construction coatings. Matrix System is part of the Quest Automotive Products (QAP) division. Raabe Company, Patriot Paint, Zolatone, and Z-Line form the Specialty Coatings division while United Coatings Manufacturing Co., HydroStop, and StreetBond form the Construction Products division.
The QAP division manufactures, distributes, and markets automotive refinish products such as basecoats, primers, clearcoats, hardeners, and solvents.

1. You don’t need new equipment to spray MPB-LV
We call this “Compliance without Cost.” If your shop is already using HVLP equipment, then there is no need to spend more money on any new equipment.
2. MPB-LV is a ‘REAL’ Premium Low VOC Basecoat
We say it is REAL because there is no need for the additional use of a binder to meet the VOC requirements. MPB-LV is the first premium low VOC solvent basecoat introduced to the market with no “converted feel.” Your painter will never know they are using the most technically advanced basecoat in the world.

MPB-LV utilizes our extensive color library of alternates and variant formulas to achieve color accuracy.
4. Fast application and flash times improve throughput
When using MPB-LV you will need to apply 1-3 coats depending on the coverage and effect desired. You will also see that flash times are comparable to most national rule solvent systems.
5. Waterborne basecoat isn’t the only way to VOC compliance
Rule 1151 mandates that color coatings be less than 3.5 lbs/g less water and exempt solvents. Rule 1151 is technology neutral; the government requires that you meet the VOC range of less than 3.5 lbs/g. It does NOT specify that water must be used or that water is the ONLY way to become VOC compliant. MPB-LV is the perfect alternative for those looking for a high performance “eco-friendly” paint system.
