Jobber Profile

L & P Auto Paint and Supplies – Anaheim, CA

For over 20 years, L & P Auto Paint and Supplies has been in business as a successful Jobber. It was approximately 7 years ago they made the choice to bring in Matrix System products as part of their offering. Like other Jobber stores, L & P Auto Paint made the decision to sell Matrix System products in order to offer a price competitive alternative for their customers.

According to the owner Larry Wolbrink, “Originally we brought Matrix in as an offset to the other ‘generic’ products on the market. Now we strongly feel that Matrix is equal to or better than the other paint lines out there.”

How has the automotive paint industry changed for you over the years? As Wolbrink states, “We have noticed greater competition of the past few years; not only in the number of paint lines offered to the market, but also in the number of abrasives, adhesives, and solvents that the shops have to choose from. Today’s economy has driven us to continually evaluate our costs in order to operate efficiently while maintaining the service levels our customers deserve.”

Why are they so successful? L & P Auto Paint and Supplies has just about everything a professional painter could possibly need. With brands such as Matrix System, DuPont, Nason, and Transtar, there is no question that they offer a wide variety to choose from. “We try to offer our customers the best value for their dollar, along with good service and honesty in our everyday business dealings,” says Wolbrink.

Why is the Matrix System MPB-LV so attractive to shops? As Wolbrink states, “Since we have brought on the MPB-LV Premium Low VOC Basecoat, it has proven to offer great color match at a reasonable price. We operate in an area with tight V.O.C. limits, which requires us to offer only waterborne or a low V.O.C. solvent basecoat. The MPB-LV is less sensitive to the changes in weather and has proven to be more user friendly to those shops without heated spray booths. When the need arises to tint a color, most painters find the process of tinting solvent to be quicker.”

Are waterborne basecoats preferred over low V.O.C. solvent basecoats in your area? “This depends on many factors including the size of the shop, their equipment, the type of work they are doing, and even the weather. In our area, we have customers using both types of systems; however MPB-LV has provided an opportunity for smaller shops who were struggling with competitor products.” Now customers can experience a low V.O.C. basecoat that is easy to use and a great value for everyone.

Why do customers keep coming back? “At L & P Auto Paint and Supplies, it is our goal to provide the highest standard of products at very reasonable prices, which is why we believe so strongly in the product offering of Matrix System,” says Wolbrink.
